ALB #71 Sep/Oct 2010
On sale Aug 11, 2010
We might be in the middle of
winter, but our latest issue aims to bring some surfing stoke to you all.
The cover shot comes from our
outstanding travel story in this issue, Coasting. Two very stylish lady longboarders take to the 4WD tracks
and hiking trails along a secluded part of the California coastline. Great
words by Michael Kew accompanying it too … we are hoping to involve him on some
future ALB projects.
Cold weather means a few major
regional contests around the country, and in this issue we have a full coverage
on the Crescent Heads Classic, and also some photos from the Snowy McAlister
Winter Classic.
The ALB Mid-Length Guide brings you
20 alternate boards to excite you on those days when your nine-footer doesn’t
quite do it ... the best in quads, fish and mini-mals.
We’re back in Sydney for the
Lifestyle section, on the Northern Beaches to be more specific. A rundown of
the shops and board makers that have the gear you need. We also tap into their
knowledge of good places for a cup of java and a bite to eat. There’s another
car review in Lifestyle, plus other items of interest.
In Boardroom, Bob Smith presents an
awesome stash of portraits from the 1970 World Titles. Fashion is almost right
back to that era now!
In Perceptions, our other regular
columnist Jimmy O’Keefe adds some thoughts to a few random snapshots he’s taken
over the years ... all in that unique style of his that we love; and in
Dispatches we have an interview with Sunshine Coast ripper, Jackson Winter, a
few more contest results and anything else newsworthy that’s crossed our desk
recently. State Wraps brings you all the local news; and of course we always
have some great prizes for our readers ... this time it’s the chance to win one
of the amazing GoPro cameras. All it costs is a 55c stamp to enter ... you
don’t have to buy a subscription to be in the draw for the ALB Readers’
Contests.
